Note due to suspension, Ali Bagautinov is ineligible for the rankings. Also note the previous rankings (9/13/14) are in parenthesis:

1) Demetrious Johnson (1)

Demetrious Johnson made history by becoming the first UFC fighter to finish a title fight by kimura when he submitted Chris Cariaso. Without a doubt, Johnson is continuing to make the case that he is one of the best in the world across the board.

2) Joseph Benavidez (2)

Looking to extend his winning streak to two, Joseph Benavidez will be facing up and coming Dustin Ortiz on November 22nd.

3) John Dodson (3)

John Dodson has been out since his June fight with John Moraga due to an injury that will probably keep him out for the rest of the year. It’s hard to tell how Dodson will be after such a long layoff as fighters react differently to the time off in the Octagon.

4) Ian McCall (4)

On a two fight winning streak, Ian McCall‘s recent win over Brad Pickett in July has put him back in title contention to say the least.

5) Jussier da Silva (5)

Jussier da Silva will be facing John Moraga on December 13th at UFC on Fox 13 and a win could earn him a title shot with Demetrious Johnson sometime this next year perhaps. It would be the best option as Silva is the only top flyweight that hasn’t fought Johnson.

6) John Lineker (6)

While a win over Ian McCall on November 8th at UFC Fight Night 56 may not earn him a title shot, it could propel John Lineker up.

7) John Moraga (7)

John Moraga maybe able to steal Jussier da Silva‘s momentum when the two face off at UFC on Fox: dos Santos vs. Miocic.

8) Zach Makovsky (8)

His loss to Jussier da Silva at UFC Fight Night 47 back on August 16th may have stalled Zach Makovsky‘s momentum ever so briefly. Makovsky is a rising star in the UFC and will most likely rebound from this defeat to establish himself and possibly build to a title shot.

9) Brad Pickett (10)

Brad Pickett will be facing Chico Camus on November 22nd at UFC Fight Night 57. A win could edge him closer to a title fight.

10) Chris Cariaso (9)

As was expected, Chris Cariaso was clearly outclassed by Demetrious Johnson when the two faced off at UFC 178 on September 27th.

The following fighter received votes for the rankings and as such is considered a contender in the flyweight division: Kyoji Horiguchi.
