Invicta Fighting Championships announced today that they have finalized the lineup for Invicta FC 12: Kankaanpaa vs. Souza taking place at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, April 24th.

In the main event, Katja Kankaanpaa will defend her strawweight championship for the first time against Livia Renata Souza. Kankaanpaa’s record stands at 10-1-1 with the only loss on her record coming at the hands of UFC standout Joanne Calderwood. The submission based Souza will be making her promotional debut and has an undefeated record of 7-0.

The co-main event will feature veteran Roxanne Modafferi in a rematch against Vanessa Porto in a flyweight affair.

Following a stint on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate and a loss in the UFC to Raquel Pennington, Modafferi made her Invicta promotional debut at Invicta FC 8 where she defeated Tara LaRosa for a second time. She then defeated Andrea Lee at Invicta FC 10 in December via split decision.

Vanessa Porto is on a two fighting winning streak having defeated Zoila Frausto Gurgel and Ana Maria. Like Modafferi, Porto has faced the who’s who in women’s MMA including the likes of Cristiane Justino, Tonya Evinger, Hitomi Akano, Germain de Randamie, Amanda Nunes, Jennifer Maia, and Barb Honchak to name a few.

The rest of the card features several key match-ups in the promotion with top ranked fighters that could determine the title prospects for the various divisions. Some of the fighters include Faith Van Duin, Ediane Gomes, Peggy Morgan, and Lacey Schuckman to name a few.

The full lineup is as follows:

Strawweight Title: Katja Kankaanpaa (10-1-1) vs. Livia Renata Souza (7-0)

Invicta FC 12 will be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass and tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Of note is that Invicta FC 12 was originally announced at the Invicta FC 11 post fight press conference but didn’t have a location listed. MMA Freak reporters were responsible for asking Shannon Knapp about the event and other following events which includes Invicta FC 13 which will feature Cristiane Justino in the main event against an as yet unnamed opponent. Justino is currently on a collision course with Ronda Rousey if she can make 135lbs.
