UFC on Fuel TV 8 takes place March 3 (but airs live in the U.S. on March 2 due to the time difference) at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The main event will pit knock out artist Wanderlei Silva vs. “The All American” Brian Stann. But as of late Monday night, the card just got more exciting.

Yushin “Thunder” Okami (12-4 UFC) meets Hector Lombard (1-1 UFC) on the card now as well. Okami was on a two-fight win streak following back-to-back losses to Tim Boetsch and Anderson Silva (for the UFC’s middleweight title). Since then, Okami has rebounded with back to back wins over Buddy Roberts and recently Alan Belcher.

Lombard entered the UFC on a 25-fight unbeaten streak and a lot of hype surrounding him. He was rumored to receive a title shot against Anderson Silva with one UFC win. At UFC 149 Tim Boetsch derailed the hype train by defeating Lombard in his debut via split decision. Lombard came back against Rousimar Palhares at UFC on FX 6 with an impressive knockout in the first round putting him back on the middleweight radar.

~Final Thoughts~

Boetsch has beaten both of these guys, but past matches mean nothing to me. Lombard is a stacked middleweight and Okami has excellent grappling (lay and prey) so expect Lombard to come out chest puffed and arms loaded like shotguns, while Okmai will be looking to take the “muscle head” into deeper waters like Boetsch was able to do.
