It was a good night of fights but it wasn’t without some controversy. However, with an upcoming PPV the only thing we can do is move on. Please note that from now on all ranked fighters will have their updated ranks listed in both the fight predictions and Around the World:

UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Thomson

Main Event: Benson Henderson #3 Lightweight vs. Josh Thomson #9 Lightweight

Prediction: Henderson by decision. Result: Same. This was an extremely close match despite Thomson’s broken thumb. However, as the saying goes “Never leave it to the judges.” Thomson left it to the judges and was in what some (not myself) considered a wrong decision.

Co-main Event: Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Stipe Miocic

Prediction: Miocic by strikes. Result: Miocic by decision. Miocic controlled the pace of the match and out struck Gonzaga without a doubt.

Donald Cerrone #10 Lightweight vs. Adriano Martins

Prediction: Martins by strikes. Result: Cerrone by strikes. Cerrone used his superior striking and then a kick to the neck to finish Martins.

Darren Elkins vs. Jeremy Stephens

Prediction: Elkins by decision. Result: Stephens by decision. Without a doubt Stephens continues to reinvent himself at featherweight.

Overall score: 2.5/4; 0.625 prediction percentage. 1 for Henderson’s decision win, 0.5 for Miocic’s win, 0.5 for Cerrone, and Elkins’ wins.

UFC 169: Barao vs. Faber 2

Main Event: Renan Barao #1 Bantamweight vs. Urijah Faber #2 Bantamweight

Prediction: Barao by submission. Barao defeated Faber once and he’s still on an incredible undefeated streak which has seen all of his skills only improve at an almost scary rate. However, Faber has been on a roll as of late and cannot be counted out until the bell rings.

Co-main Event: Jose Aldo #1 Featherweight vs. Ricardo Lamas #2 Featherweight

Prediction: Aldo by strikes. There’s no doubt that Aldo is dangerous but the question is whether Lamas can give him a challenge or not.

Frank Mir #7 Heavyweight vs. Alistair Overeem #8 Heavyweight

Prediction: Overeem by submission. This is a do or die fight for both men. However, Overeem has the edge of overall experience and striking.

John Lineker #7 Flyweight vs. Ali Bagautinov

Prediction: Bagautinov by strikes. Bagautinov has been on an undefeated streak dating back to 2011 and ranked 7th in the UFC rankings.

Jamie Varner vs. Abel Trujillo

Prediction: Varner by submission. Since his return to a Zuffa promotion Varner has gone even at 2-2. However, he has the experience.

Do you think Faber will rise as champion again or will Barao reinforce himself as one of the top pound for pound fighters at the present?
