Normally this list is compiled around Martin Luther King day but due delays it was done for black history month. Note that the list is compiled based on the records of the fighters listed over the past year who are African American:

10) Quinton “Rampage” Jackson

Earned one win in the UFC against Fabio Maldonado but will now be returning to Bellator to fulfill his contract.

9) Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley gained two wins against Dan Charles and James Thompson in Bellator MMA this past year. Maybe fighting for the Bellator Heavyweight Championship depending on when Vitaly Minakov is available.

8) Daniel Straus

Not only earned a rebound win by defeating Henry Corrales but defeated Patricio Freire for his title back.

7) Will Brooks

Will Brooks defended his Bellator Lightweight Championship twice against Dave Jansen and Marcin Held. There’s currently no word as to when or whom Brooks will fight next in defending his lightweight title belt.

6) Anthony Johnson

Lost to Daniel Cormier in a bid for the at the time vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship (he was supposed to challenge Jon Jones prior to getting stripped) but defeated Jimi Manuwa and Ryan Bader.

5) Phil Davis

Phil Davis signed with Bellator MMA and won the Bellator MMA & Glory: Dynamite 1 light heavyweight tournament against Emanuel Newton and Francis Carmont. He next faces King Mo at Bellator 154.

4) Neil Magny

Unfortunately Neil Magny‘s seven fight winning streak was snapped but he picked up three more wins this year.

3) Daniel Cormier

Daniel Cormier defeated Anthony Johnson for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and then defended it against Alexander Gustafsson. He will next be settling the score with Jon Jones at UFC 197.

2) Demetrious Johnson

“Mighty Mouse” defended his UFC Flyweight Championship against Kyoji Horiguchi and John Dodson. The fight against Horiguchi resulted in the latest submission in UFC history with a recorded time of 4:59.

1) Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal 4-0

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal defeated Linton Vassell at Bellator MMA & Glory: Dynamite 1 in round one of the tournament but injured himself. He then went onto win the eight man Rizin FF Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Kimbo Slice

Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson fought twice in Bellator defeating Ken Shamrock and “Dada 5000″ Harris.

Kevin Randleman

This is in memory of the late Kevin Randleman who won the Universal Vale Tudo Fighting 4 tournament and was a former UFC Heavyweight Champion. He was also a runner-up in three other tournaments and fought in Pride FC.
