Fedor Emelianenko 34-4 (1) is hands down one of the biggest names when it comes to mixed martial arts. The man has beaten a whose who of names including, Ricardo Arona, Renato Sobral, Mark Coleman (twice) and Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira (twice and one NC). I think it’s without question that he is Hall of Fame worthy, but UFC Hall of Fame worthy?
There has been a lot of talk that Fedor should be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Why? Some say that he dominated Pride and that should be enough. I do not agree. Plus, the UFC did not buy Pride, Zuffa did.
He has never fought in the UFC, and has never fought the top guys like Mir, Velasquez, Lesnar, Couture, etc. Not only that, but the main reason he isn’t in the UFC Hall of Fame, is because of himself. Fedor is a brilliant fighter, but a horrible manager and business man.
He had a few chances to join the UFC and denied himself due to greed. He was worth a lot, but never as much as he thought. It’s the Ultimate Fighting Championship, not the Ultimate Fedor Championship.
If you have never fought for the UFC, then you should not be acknowledged by their Hall of Fame. That’s like a really good college player wanting to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame without earning it. This whole thing makes no sense. It’s really a moot point in my opinion. They do need to make a MMA Hall of Fame for guys like Fedor though. Granted he would probably be the only guy on this list that has never competed for the UFC but still.
Should a fighter that has never fought for the UFC be inducted in the Hall of Fame?
