September was a very finish heavy month, particularly when it came to submissions. Here are the top 10 of them:

10) Rafael dos Anjos defeats Neil Magny via arm-triangle choke – UFC 215: Nunes vs. Shevchenko 2

Rafael dos Anjos has continued proving himself in the welterweight division with a submission over Neil Magny.

9) Paul Daley defeats Lorenz Larkin via knockout by punches – Bellator 183: Henderson vs. Pitbull

Again proving his striking ability, Paul Daley knocked out Lorenz Larkin with a very spectacular KO finish.

8) Brandon Laroco technically submits Gaston Bolanos – Bellator 183: Henderson vs. Pitbull

Brandon Laroco made a name for himself when his preliminary fight was broadcast of his slick submission.

7) Henry Cejudo defeats Wilson Reis via technical knockout- UFC 215: Nunes vs. Shevchenko 2

Proving that he’s moved beyond his Olympic wrestling, Henry Cejudo defeated Wilson Reis with strikes.

6) Jeremy Stephens defeats Gilbert Melendez via decision – UFC 215: Nunes vs. Shevchenko 2

Gilbert Melendez‘s attempt to reinvent his career at featherweight at least this time proved to be fruitless.

5) Ketlen Vieira defeats Sara McMann via arm-triangle choke – UFC 215: Nunes vs. Shevchenko 2

While Ketlen Vieira pulled a spectacular submission, the fact it was against Sara McMann gives her a name.

4) Nicco Montano defeats Lauren Murphy by decision – The Ultimate Fighter 26 – Upset of the Month

Nicco Montano without a doubt pulled one of the greatest upsets in TUF against UFC veteran Lauren Murphy. This is impressive considering Murphy’s experience and three seed position on the tournament bracket.

3) Goiti Yamauchi defeats Adam Piccolotti via submission – Bellator 183 – Submission of the Month

If nothing else Goiti Yamauchi proved to be a spectacular submission expert as he trapped Adam Piccolotti in a body lock and in the process trapped his arm which forced Piccolotti to tap out or face passing out from the choke.

2) Aaron Pico defeats Justin Linn via a knockout punch – Bellator 183 – Knockout of the Month

Aaron Pico‘s debut at Bellator 180 against Zach Freeman didn’t go so well but his second match against Justin Linn proved his beginning win. Of note is that this second match took place at featherweight may have helped a bit.

1) Amanda Nunes defeats Valentina Shevchenko via split decision – UFC 215 – Fight of the Month

Before this second fight, Amanda Nunes cardio was in question. However she made it through the final round and was even able to take repeat opponent Valentina Shevchenko which in this close fight proved to be the breaker.
