Things are ramping up right now and they’re only going to get more active. So with that here we go with the previews and reviews this week:
UFC Fight Night: Kim vs. Hathaway
Main Event: Dong Hyun Kim vs. John Hathaway
Prediction: Hathaway by decision. Result: Kim by strikes. Kim has been on a role as of late and it looks like his winning streak will continue.
Co-main Event: Sai Wang vs. Lipeng Zhang
Prediction: Wang by strikes. Result: Lipeng by decision. Once again this is the reason why you NEVER LEAVE IT TO THE JUDGES!
Matt Mitrione vs. Shawn Jordan
Prediction: Jordan by strikes. Result: Mitrione by strikes. Despite a difference in experience Mitrione was able to pull off the win again.
Hatsu Hioki vs. Ivan Menjivar
Prediction: Hioki by submission. Result: Hioki by decision. Hioki did what he needed to do to get the win and that’s all that counts now.
Nam Phan vs. Vaughan Lee
Prediction: Phan by strikes. Result: Lee by decision. Even though this fight didn’t end up on the main card it still counts for this card overall.
Overall score: 1/5; 0.2 prediction percentage. 0.5 for Mitrione’s win by strikes and 0.5 for Hioki’s win by decision. Not one of my best cards.
Note: Even though two of the featherweight tournament fights were on the preliminary card they were scored as tournament matchs.
Main Event: Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Christian M’Pumbu
Prediction: Jackson by strikes. Result: Same. Jackson has been revitalized since coming over to Bellator and we saw that with his win.
Co-main Event: Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. Mikhail Zayats
Prediction: Zayats by submission. Result: Lawal by decision. I quite plainly chose the underdog and in this case I lost. Lawal grinded out.
Diego Nunes vs. Matt Bessette
Prediction: Nunes by decision. Result: Bessette by decision. Nunes was never able to get his game going and Bessette got the win.
Mike Richman vs. Desmond Green
Prediction: Richman by submission. Result: Green by decision. Green has a funky fighting style and Richman was never able to adjust.
Daniel Weichel vs. Scott Cleve
Prediction: Cleve by strikes. Result: Weichel by submission. Weichel had a better ground game and was able to impose that upon Cleve.
Goiti Yamauchi vs. Will Martinez
Prediction: Martinez by submission. Result: Martinez by decision. Martinez tournament debut was a success and now he’s advancing.
Note: Even though one of the tournament matches is on the preliminary card, it will be scored with the main card as a tournament bout.
Main Event: Eduardo Dantes #9 Bantamweight vs. Anthony Leone
Prediction: Dantes by decision. Dantes is a very well rounded fighter and can win this match by practically any means at his disposal.
Co-main Event: Lavar Johnson vs. Ryan Martinez
Prediction: Martinez by strikes. Martinez is coming off a loss to Bellator Heavyweight Champion Vitaly Minakov but is ready for a rebound.
Peter Graham vs. Siala-Mou “Might Mo” Siliga
Prediction: Siliga by strikes. Might Mo surprised everyone by submitting Ron Sparts at Bellator 105 considering his kickboxing background.
Alexander Volkov vs. Mark Holata
Prediction: Volkov by strikes. The former Bellator Heavyweight Champion is looking to reclaim his belt and this is the first step to do so.
Blagoy Ivanov vs. Rich Hale
Prediction: Ivanov by submission. The Sambo fighter has proven to be rather versatile in MMA and can finish a fight anywhere, undefeated so.
UFC Fight Night: Gustafsson vs. Manuwa
Main Event: Alexander Gustafsson #3 Light Heavyweight vs. Jimi Manuwa
Prediction: Manuwa by strikes. I do believe Manuwa is a little underrated and has the ability to beat the extremely lanky Gustafsson.
Co-main Event: Michael Johnson vs. Melvin Guillard
Prediction: Guillard by strikes. The longtime veteran has heavy hands that can knock anyone out at lightweight should they touch a chin.
Brad Pickett #5 Bantamweight vs. Neil Seery
Prediction: Pickett by submission. Pickett was supposed to face Ian McCall and is now facing late replacement Neil Seery at flyweight.
Gunnar Nelson vs. Omari Akhmedov
Prediction: Nelson by submission. Nelson is undefeated but hasn’t fought in over a year. Last time he fought it was against Jorge Santiago.
