We had a good night of fights and now we are getting ready for the next pay-per-view and it’s going to be big. So let’s get into the review:
UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Mousasi
Main Event: Lyoto Machida #4 Middleweight vs. Gegard Mousasi #7 Middleweight
Prediction: Mousasi by strikes. Result: Machida by decision. The judges clearly scored this match mainly on the striking where Machida got the better. That being said, Machida’s pleas for a title shot should be taken into serious consideration regardless of the Weidman versus Belfort winner in May.
Co-main Event: Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza #5 Middleweight vs. Francis Carmont
Prediction: Souza by submission. Result: Souza by decision. Souza controlled Carmont the whole fight and got the win, even though it wasn’t pretty.
Erick Silva vs. Takenori Sato
Prediction: Silva by submission. Result: Silva by strikes. Erick Silva looked a full weight class heavier then Sato, whom he dominated.
Viscardi Andrade vs. Nicholas Musoke
Prediction: Andrade by decision. Result: Musoke by decision. Musoke surprisingly controlled Andrade for the whole fight on the ground.
Charles Oliveira vs. Andy Ogle
Prediction: Oliveira by submission. Result: Same. It took him almost the whole match but Oliveira found the submission against Ogle.
Overall score: 2.5/5; 0.5 prediction percentage. 1 for Oliveira’s submissoin win, 0.5 for Musoke, 0.5 for Silva KO win, and 0.5 for Souza.
UFC 170: Rousey vs. McMann
Prediction: Rousey by submission. While Rousey maybe the favorite, McMann cannot be underestimated with her Olympic wrestling experience. If she can use it correctly, it’s possible that McMann can force Rousey into a long decision. We will have to wait and see.
Co-main Event: Daniel Cormier #2 heavyweight vs. Patrick Cummins
Prediction: Cormier by strikes. Cormier was preparing for a much more challenging opponent and this is now basically a tuneup match.
Rory McDonald #5 welterweight vs. Demian Maia #7 welterweight
Prediction: Maia by submission. Both men are just coming off losses but Maia has shown improvement since moving to welterweight.
Mike Pyle vs. TJ Waldburger
Prediction: Pyle by submission. Until his loss to Matt Brown, Pyle was just outside of the rankings. Another win streak could launch him.
Robert Whittaker vs. Stephen Thompson
Prediction: Thompson by strikes. The elite level striker has the tools necessary to both dominate on the feel and on the ground.
