Today is Veteran’s Day and this month is Veterans Appreciation Month here in the United States of America. This day and this month in general America honors those who have made the sacrifice to serve the country in protecting it and making it one of the safest nations in the world.

In honor of the occasion as was the case last year, MMA Freak has compiled a list of US military veterans who have excelled in MMA in the past year. Record is a major factor in ranking the fighters. Here is the list in it’s entirety:

10) Brandon Vera

Brandon Vera was finally able to rebound from a two fight losing streak by joining One FC against Igor Subora.

9) Liz Carmouche

Like Vera, Liz Carmouche snapped a two fight losing streak by beating Lauren Murphy at UFC Fight Night: Mendes vs. Lamas. Before competing in MMA, Carmouche was a helicopter electrician in the US Marine Corps.

8) Eric Prindle

Eric Prindle went even this year with a loss in June to Brandon Cash and a win against Mitsuyoshi Nakai.

7) Mike Richman

Retired Marine Mike Richman went even in the past twelve months with a win against Nam Phan and a loss.

6) Luigi Fioravanti

Luigi Fioravanti returned to competition in M-1 Global this year and was able to earn two wins and one loss.

5) Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley earned an undefeated record this year with wins over Dan Charles and James Thompson. Before competing in the WWE and MMA, Lashley wrestled in the US Army right out of college.

4) Clinton Williams

Clinton Williams was able earn two wins to one loss this year, the sole loss at the hands of Andrew Sanchez.

3) Justin Governale

In the past twelve months, Justin Governale was able to earn an even record with two wins and two losses.

2) Colton Smith

Colton Smith earned an undefeated record this year with three wins, the latest of which was at World Series of Fighting 24: Fitch vs. Okami. Smith is the only active duty member of the military to compete in WSOF.

1) Neil Magny

Despite seeing a seven fight winning streak snapped, former National Guard member Neil Magny was able to earn three wins this year and is set to fight a fifth time this year against Kelvin Gastelum on November 21st.

Breaking the fourth wall, I would like to take this time to thank all you veterans. Thank you for your service!
