Anderson “The Spider” Silva will take on Chael P. Sonnen tonight at UFC 148. I can’t wait. As long as Silva can stop Sonnen’s take downs (and that’s a big if), he will dominate this fight on the feet. If Silva can’t stop Sonnen from slamming him in to the cage, I still believe he will find a way to end Sonnen’s night on the ground. May the best man
Chael P. Sonnen is going to fight for the UFC Middleweight Championship this Saturday. For anyone who even casually follows MMA, there is something different about this fight. Even though the event has been thoroughly promoted, the term hype doesn’t seem to factor in this time.

UFC on FX4 went down on Friday night. Everything went well for the most part. At least until the main event began. Clay “The Carpenter” Guida entered the octagon first. Nothing seemed different in his demeanor and everyone cheered as he bobbed and weaved down the aisle, full of animalistic energy and visible aggression. Gray “The Bully” Maynard walked in next in his usual somber yet intense manner which has
Gray Maynard beat Clay Guida in a controversial split decision. After five rounds of watching Gray chase Clay around the cage, I’m surprised it wasn’t a unanimous or even majority decision. Sam Stout beat Spencer fisher by unanimous decision to end their storied trilogy. Fisher hit Stout with everything but the kitchen sink yet couldn’t stop Stout from taking him to the ground at will. I believe Fisher was robbed

Both men are coming off tough losses in the lightweight division and are determined to rejoin the contenders in the light weight division. Stephan “Skyscraper” Struve (25-4) will meet undefeated rising star Stipe Miocic (9-0) in a five round main event battle on September 29, at UFC on FOX TV 5 (mmafighting.com). The event will take place in England. Both of these fighters are at the top of the heavyweight food chain these days and will step in to the cage riding an impressive three fight win streak in the UFC. Miocic is undefeated
A recent trend in the UFC has seen fighters wait for title shots over taking fights to stay active. These days the welterweight division stands out among the others. A small handful of fighters are content to wait for UFC Welterweight Champ George St. Pierre to recover from his injury. Even the interim welterweight champion, Carlos Conditt, is going to wait as opposed to defending his nice piece of metal. I
Recently, I was volunteering for a marathon at Fort Snelling when I saw UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann get out of his car with his three kids near the checkpoint that I was assigned to. I couldn’t believe my luck running into a fighter who had just had a five fight win streak snapped at UFC 146 to Paul Sass. He didn’t seem bothered as I approached him. In fact, he
