Due to inactivity and suspension, Jon Jones and Rashad Evans are ineligible. Previous ranks are in parenthesis:

Top 10 Light Heavyweights (6/1/15)

1) Daniel Cormier (1)

Daniel Cormier will be defending his title against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192 on October 3rd in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center. There were attempts to match the two up for a number one contender spot.

2) Anthony Johnson (2)

Following his title loss to Daniel Cormier, Anthony Johnson just got a rebound win against Jimi Manuwa at UFC 191 on September 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada in which he once again showed his dominance by knocking him out.

3) Alexander Gustafsson (3)

Alexander Gustafsson will finally be getting his next title shot, this time against Daniel Cormier at UFC 192. The question is whether Gustafsson can become only the second man to defeat Cormier or if he will lose again.

4) Ryan Bader (5)

After a win against Phil Davis, Ryan Bader will now be welcoming Rashad Evans back at UFC 192 in Texas.

5) Ovince St. Preux (7)

Ovince St. Preux is just coming off of a loss to Glover Teixeira at UFC Fight Night: Teixeira vs. Saint Preux on Saturday, August 8th in Nashville, Tennessee. Despite the loss, St. Preux earned Fight of the Night honors.

6) Glover Teixeira (6)

Following a two fight loosing streak, Glover Teixeira finally snapped it with a win over Ovince St. Preux on August 3rd. Teixeira will next be facing Patrick Cummins at UFC Fight Night 77 on November 7th.

7) Mauricio Rua (10)

Mauricio Rua snapped a two fight loosing streak by defeating fellow Brazilian Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. It’s hard to tell if this is the beginning of a comeback run considering veterans like Frank Mir or if this is his last win.

8) Phil Davis (4)

Looking to make an impression, Phil Davis will make his Bellator MMA debut at Bellator MMA & Glory: Dynamite 1 when he faces Emanuel Newton in the first round of a tournament in which he could fight a second round.

9) Quinton Jackson (N/A)

Quinton Jackson hasn’t seen action since his UFC 186 win against Fabio Maldonado and is still probably dealing with contract issues with Bellator MMA. His next match might not happen until those issues are resolved.

10) Liam McGeary (8)

Intent on defending his title for the first time, Liam McGeary will be facing Tito Ortiz this weekend at Bellator & Glory: Dynamite 1 and will be getting a look at his possible next match with the winner of the LHWT tournament.

Contenders list: Emanuel Newton, Jimi Manuwa, Patrick Cummins, Tito Ortiz, Muhammed Lawal
