Due to suspensions, Nick Diaz and Hector Lombard are ineligible. Also note the previous rankings (1/31/15) are listed in parenthesis:

1) Robbie Lawler (1)

The cancellation of Rory MacDonald‘s bout against Hector Lombard may result in a defined opponent for Champion Robbie Lawler. However, it also depends on how Lawler is healing from that war of a match in his rematch with Johny Hendricks.

2) Johny Hendricks (2)

Johny Hendricks will be facing Matt Brown for a rebound at UFC 185 on March 14th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This isn’t the first time that Hendricks has had to rebound from a loss and Brown maybe more of a tune up then an actual challenge.

3) Rory MacDonald (3)

It is possible that Rory MacDonald will get a rematch against Robbie Lawler with his match against Hector Lombard scrapped.

4) Tyron Woodley (4)

Tyron Woodley was able to convince the judges that he defeated Kelvin Gastelum and since he missed weight not many are angry. Needless to say, Woodley’s win was by no means spectacular and it will take a few more matches for him to earn a title shot anytime soon.

5) Matt Brown (6)

After loosing to Robbie Lawler in a title shot match, Matt Brown will now face former champion Johny Hendricks in another test.

6) Ben Askren (8)

Ben Askren will make his first title defense against Luis Santos on March 13th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This will be Askren’s third match on his six fight and two year contract so it’s possible that a few more matches and the end of the year may see him in the UFC.

7) Carlos Condit (7)

Still recovering from his knee injury, Carlos Condit doesn’t have a return date and unless he fights before March 15 becomes ineligible.

8) Jake Shields (9)

Jake Shields is set to fight World Series of Fighting Welterweight Champion Rousimar Palhares sometime later this year. With the schedule extending to June, we may not see the match until July but Shields is certainly motivated to take out the “dirty fighter” Palhares.

9) Demian Maia (N/A)

After a scary staph infection, Demian Maia will now be facing Ryan LaFlare at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. LaFlare on March 21st.

10) Kelvin Gastelum (10)

Kelvin Gastelum maybe moving up in weight per Dana White‘s orders due to his failure to make weight at UFC 183 on January 31st. Gastelum certainly had potential at welterweight, but it’s hard to tell what he will be like at middleweight considering the competitive nature.
