Due to inactivity Cristiane Justino is ineligible for the rankings. Also note the previous rankings (11/5/14) are listed in parenthesis:

1) Ronda Rousey (1)

Ronda Rousey will defend her title against Cat Zingano at UFC 184 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Zingano could be Rousey’s greatest challenge to date considering both have legitimate grappling and striking games, not to mention Zingano’s comback skills.

2) Carla Esparza (N/A)

After earning the UFC Strawweight Championship. Carla Esparza is expected to face Joanna Jedrzejczyk sometime this spring. As of right now a return is not scheduled for the new champion but considering her time in the TUF house the time off is well deserved.

3) Barb Honchak (3)

Barb Honchak currently has nothing scheduled and she only recently defended her title in November against Takayo Hashi at Invicta 9.

4) Cat Zingano (4)

To say that Cat Zingano is hungry for her shot against Ronda Rousey is an understatement as she sees Rousey as an opponent only. Considering all the adversity of loosing her husband and undergoing knee surgery, it’s amazing Zingano has worked back to a title shot.

5) Jessica Aguilar (5)

Jessica Aguilar has nothing scheduled but expect her to defend her title probably within the next few months and possibly head to the UFC.

6) Katja Kankaanpaa (10)

According to Shannon Knapp, Katja Kankaanpaa will be defending her title sometime in February against an unnamed opponent.

7) Sara McMann (6)

Sara McMann will be facing longtime veteran Miesha Tate at UFC 183 this coming January 31st in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM. This is an interesting match up as it’s a veteran versus a very skilled opponent as McMann has a better grappling pedigree then Tate does.

8) Herica Tiburcio (N/A)

In not only her first match at atomweight but also her Invicta FC debut, Herica Tiburcio upset former champion Michelle Waterson.

9) Michelle Waterson (2)

Michelle Waterson was dealt her first loss in five years when she lost to Herica Tiburcio in what was arguably an upset for the month. This isn’t her first career loss and it is still very possible that she could be signed to the new UFC strawweight division with a win or two.

10) Marloes Coenen (7)

After a successful Bellator debut, Marloes Coenen is currently waiting for the winner of Julia Budd and Talita Nogueira next month. It is very much possible that Coenen and the winning woman could very well fight for the inaugural Bellator Women’s Featherweight title.

The following fighter received votes for the pound for pound rankings and as such is considered a contender in the category: Miesha Tate.
