It is a super fight many fans would love to see. It is just as much talked about in the world of super fights as GSP vs. Silva or Silva vs. Jones.

This, however, may be one of those super fights we never see. The line is pretty much split right down the middle on who would win this fight at a catch weight or at either Ronda‘s 135 or Cyborg‘s 145.

Many speculations can be made about this bout. In this article, I will break down the match as to how I see it.

Ronda Rousey is the first lady of the UFC. Currently, she is the UFC female bantamweight champion. She boasts a professional record of 7-0, finishing all 7 opponents in the first round via submission in her trade mark armbar.

Rousey is a former Olympic Judo competitor winning a bronze medal in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens.

She is the daughter of Ann Maria Rousey DeMars, the first American to win a World Judo Championship.

This dominate female is ranked the #1 pound for pound female fighter by multiple media websites and the clear #1 female bantamweight.

She is known for having a forked tongue towards her opponents and other media moguls.

Ronda Rousey’s fighting style is very intriguing. She has amazing Judo abilities that most people in MMA (male or female) do not possess. She also frequently trains her jiu jitsu at Cesar Gracie jiu jitsu with the Diaz brothers, who are top level MMA submission grapplers.

As her striking coach, she enlisted the help of former undefeated boxing and kickboxing champ Lucia Rijker. Rousey is sometimes called a one trick pony due to her winning all her fights by armbar, especially all in the first round. To those, we say she is extra talented due to her extraordinary ability to land a submission everyone knows is coming.

Rousey will need to close the distance with Cyborg, do not play into the striking game with her opponent. In the striking department, she needs to close the distance fast, keeping her hands high and her chin down. She must be sure to not make it a dog fight, without getting into a scrap with her, and look to clinch.

In the clinch, she will need to use her Olympic judo skills and slam Cyborg. Once on the ground, she must move her position often and stay out of the guard of the jiu jitsu brown belt, working ground and pound to pass into dominant positions. From there, she will look for the TKO victory or land that trademark armbar for the victory.

Cris ‘Cyborg’ is the most controversial female fighter today. Long time speculation about her physique was confronted when she tested positive for an anabolic substance Stanozolol and stripped of her Strikeforce championship belt. She was the former Strikeforce champion and defended her title 4 times; however, on the 4th defense she tested positive for Stanozolol and the victory was ruled a no contest. As a result, she was stripped of her title and suspended for a year plus a fine. During that year off, she watched the stock of Ronda Rousey rise.

Cyborg’s style is still heavily influenced from her traditional Chute Box Academy style; that’s where she trained with in Brazil for a number of years where they are known to go a 100% in training almost daily and being extremely aggressive. She is trained in Muay Thai under Rafael Cordeiro and holds a brown belt in Jiu jitsu under Andre Galvao.

With her aggressive style and brutal striking, she is a threat to anyone in her weight division or surrounding respected weight divisions. She is a fan favorite as she always comes to fight and her outstanding physique is sure to leave people in awe.

Cyborg will need to keep the distance, use her dominate striking over Rousey, and turn this into a scrap fest. She will need to stay aggressive and keep Rousey back peddling. If she can keep the distance and keep Rousey moving backwards, she will not have to worry about being taken down or slammed.

Once she gets Rousey back peddling, she will need to get her against the cage and stay and arms reach distance and make Rousey fight with her back against the cage. From there, Cyborg can tee off picking her power strikes and finish the bout TKO/KO.

For now, we can only speculate on how this match would end up at either weight class. Both fighters are incredibly dominate at what they do best. Both pose a huge threat to each other and other fighters in their respected weight divisions. This fight would be built as the ultimate grappling female vs. the ultimate striking female. Only time will tell if we see this “first female super fight.”
