The episode opens up with Alexander Volkanovski coming over to The Ultimate Fighter house to watch UFC 261.

The fighters are encouraged by watching the main event with Rose Namajunas regaining the title against Weili Zhang. This is especially encouraging as Namajunas was on season 20 of the show and made it to the finals.

The next day at the UFC Apex, Brian Ortega and his coaching staff talk to Ukranian born Armenian fighter Liudvik Sholinian about his experience and his record.

Another thing that is emphasized is the fact that he’s a multiple time Ukranian wrestling champion. There is a little bit of a barrier in terms of language, but Ortega gets around it by teaching him basic movements to help him improve on his striking.

The goal is to use the striking to set up his wrestling against his team Volkanovski opponent Mitch Raposo.

Raposo then talks about how his first experience in the gym as a starter was against people who already had a year or two experience. He then also talks about his life in the small city life in Massachusetts.

He discusses how he lives with his sister and mother in a close Portuguese family and how his mother is one of his greatest supporters. He then also talks about how his friends are the same friends since childhood.

Something else he talks about is how he trains with UFC fighter Rob Font which is an advantage in terms of training. He talks about how he is undefeated both as an amateur and as a professional.

Focus again shifts to Sholinian who trains in Las Vegas at Xtreme Couture while he originally trained hi Kiev, Ukraine and is originally from there.

Both fighters make weight for the fight without difficulty.

Dana White talks about how Raposo was Team Volkanovski’s number one pick while Sholinian was a regional powerhouse in Ukraine and was on the national wrestling team.

Rounds one consisted of Raposo instituting his game plan of keeping the fight on the feet which resulted in the round being scored for him.

Round two however, went the other way with Sholinian imposing his wrestling and forcing a third round.

The final round consisted of Sholinian agains imposing his wrestling which resulted in the judges scoring it for Sholinian.

For some unknown reason the next pick goes to Team Volkanovski and the match up chosen is Ryder Newman against Team Ortega’s Tresean Gore.
